PrepforSTEM is dedicated to helping middle and high school students with their quiz and test taking skills in order for them to perform well in science and math competitions. It also provides the platform that enables teachers to help their students achieve their goals by bringing in right contents for testing their students in a desired STEM subject area. Overall, our goal is to provide the platform to enable the right learning and test taking environment.

It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. To accomplish this, we have a few principles:

We collect only the information that we need to provide you with our services.
We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law and to protect the rights, property or safety of PrepforSTEM.
We don’t store your personal information unless it’s required for the ongoing operation of our services.
We give you control over how your personal information is used, including what’s made visible to the public, and seen by search engines.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Information you provide to use Services from PrepforSTEM

We collect the information you provide when you sign up for a PreforSTEM account, log in to your account, communicate with us, upload content, or otherwise use the Services.

We request an email address when you choose to sign up for the Service so we can provide the Services to you and allow us to comply with applicable regulations. Without this information, we are not be able to provide you with the Service.

Users who engage in financial transactions with PrepforSTEM, for example to purchase a subscription, are asked to provide additional information in order to complete the transaction, such as a credit card number, billing address and full name.

Visitors can always refrain from supplying certain information, but it may prevent them from engaging in certain services provided by PrepforSTEM which require that information.

Information we get automatically when you use PrepforSTEM

We automatically collect information about you and how you use the Service, like when you take a quiz, review the answers and upload your explanations to the answers, or view other pages for learning or the content. This information we collect includes:

Geo-location

We may use your IP address to generate a general approximation of where you are located in order to provide you with an improved experience.

Log

When you are in PrepforSTEM, we automatically collect and store certain information such as the details of how you are using our service including your search queries, clicks and site navigation information, or study activity. It also may include data such as:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Language preference and time zone
  • Referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request
  • Connection information like ISP or mobile operator
  • Log-in and Log-out times

Device

We collect device-specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, device identifiers like IDFA and UDID, and mobile network information). We may associate your device identifiers or other device information with your Account so as to help us provide consistent services across your devices.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

For example, we provide you the ability to control who can view and modify the content you have uploaded and to remove information that you own.

Comments you post on our blog or in testimonials may be viewable by users or public and you should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. In cases where we are not be able to remove your personal information upon your request, we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

How long we retain your data

PrepforSTEM retains your personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as necessary, to fulfill our legitimate business purposes, or to comply with our legal obligations. When these conditions no longer exist, PrepforSTEM removes that information in accordance with our standard deletion processes. Non-personal information, including information which has been de-identified, aggregated, or anonymized are retained indefinitely.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data
